What it is intended to do

The checker is planned to help you organize readiness work for one AI system against EU AI Act obligation areas, taking your role into account:

  1. Role. Capture the facts relevant to whether you act as provider, deployer, or both, for the system — for legal review.
  2. Screening. Prompt screening against prohibited practices (AO-10) and record classification facts (EI-02) for legal assessment.
  3. Obligation areas. Readiness questions for the areas relevant to your role — for example risk management (Art. 9), data governance (Art. 10), documentation and record-keeping (Art. 11–12), transparency (Art. 13 and 50), human oversight (Art. 14), accuracy, robustness and cybersecurity (Art. 15), AI literacy (Art. 4) and post-market monitoring and incidents (Art. 72–73).
  4. Output. A readiness view with evidence labels and VERITRAIL control citations — not a compliance determination.

VERITRAIL controls cited

Framework mappings are indicative VERITRAIL interpretations (Control Library v1.0.0); they are not legal advice and do not establish conformity or compliance.

Honest limits

The checker will not classify your system under the Act, and it does not make compliance determinations. EU AI Act timelines and requirements must be verified against the current Official Journal text and amendments, including the Commission's 2025 Digital Omnibus proposals.

Available today

The maturity self-assessment already produces indicative readiness indicators for selected EU AI Act themes, and the EU AI Act readiness guide explains how VERITRAIL controls relate to each obligation area.
