The VERITRAIL control library is the same in every sector. What changes is emphasis: which use cases carry the most risk, which existing regimes your AI governance has to fit alongside, and which controls deserve attention in the first 90 days.
| Industry | Typical AI risk concentration | VERITRAIL emphasis |
|---|---|---|
| Healthcare & pharma | Clinical and patient-facing AI, special-category health data, validated environments | Intended purpose, data and privacy, human oversight, change control in validated systems |
| Banking & financial services | Credit, fraud, customer communications, model risk | Model-risk alignment, tiering, fairness, explainability, evidence packs |
| GCCs & IT services | Building AI for parent organizations or clients at scale, agentic engineering tools | Provider/deployer allocation, agent registry, runtime guardrails, client evidence |
| SaaS & product companies | AI features shipped to customers, customer trust and questionnaires | Provider documentation, transparency, guardrails, customer-facing evidence |
| Public sector | Eligibility and service decisions, public trust, transparency expectations | Impact assessment, transparency, contestability, inventory publication readiness |
What stays constant
Whatever the sector, three things are non-negotiable in VERITRAIL:
- An owned inventory — every system, agent and vendor AI product with a named owner and a human-confirmed risk tier (EI-01, EI-02, EI-03).
- Proportionate gates — pre-deployment assessment and tier-matched approvals (GL-02, GL-03).
- Evidence by default — tamper-evident logs and the ability to produce an evidence pack on request (SE-08, SE-05).

Sector regimes: a note of caution
Each industry page refers to sector regimes — model risk management expectations, medical-device software rules, data-protection law and others — in general terms. Those regimes are detailed, jurisdiction-specific and change over time. VERITRAIL helps you organize evidence that is relevant to them; it does not interpret them for you, and the obligations register (AO-07) should be maintained with your legal and compliance teams.

The industry pages describe where we see the most demand. The framework applies equally to insurance, energy and utilities, telecoms, retail, manufacturing and others. The self-assessment works for any sector, and a Governance Baseline is scoped to your context.
